Welcome To My Mind’s Eye
One of the aspects that captures my attention the most is the intricate web of connections we share with one another, our inner selves, and the world that surrounds us. The pull towards exploration, fueled by a curiosity to test new concepts and methods, is a force that continuously beckons me forward.
HEX: MODERN EVOLUTION IS A DECADENT DECAY
This series, originated in 2012, was meticulously crafted for a not-for-profit exhibition celebrating budding artists engaging in interdisciplinary works, under the vision of designer Elle Waldmann. The captivating showcase brought together five skillful photographers, each hailing from diverse backgrounds in the heart of Hong Kong. Tasked with interpreting the theme "MODERN EVOLUTION IS A DECADENT DECAY," the artists were entrusted to highlight three distinctive designs by Elle.
During the inception of this series, my perspective of the world was shrouded in darkness. A prevailing sense of disillusionment loomed, where the relentless grip of consumerism and technology seemed to erode the essence of humanity. I lamented the societal fixation on material wealth, fleeting fame, and digital distractions, observing a disintegration of authentic human relationships. The pervasive culture of entitlement, self-absorption, and discontentment was palpable as individuals immersed themselves in screens, chased superficial trends, and sought validation through hollow pursuits of notoriety. Little did I anticipate that over a decade later, this troubling trajectory would only intensify, plunging deeper into an abyss of detachment and disillusionment.
NUDAS
This series was part of a joint exhibition I created back in the summer of 2012, showcasing the works of master photographers the late Lester Lee, Ike Eichensehr, and the emerging talent Isabell Chan. The exhibition delves into the human body as a subject for study, steering away from focusing on glamour, eroticism, or pornography in photography that accentuates the model's sexuality in a suggestive or explicit manner.
Throughout history, the human body has served as a significant wellspring of inspiration for artists, from ancient cave paintings and prehistoric sculptures to the artistic representations of antiquity, where the male nude held prominence, particularly within Greek art. However, contemporary trends have shifted towards highlighting the female form. Artists have captured the essence of the human body through various mediums like canvas, frescoes, and sculptures, representing a new aesthetic that mirrors the societal changes over time.
The advent of digital imaging tools such as Photoshop has brought forth new possibilities in exploring the plasticity and mutability of body representations. Presently, there is a societal pursuit of the "perfect body," fueled by the inundation of airbrushed and unrealistic nude images in advertising. In this era, photographers bear the crucial responsibility of enlightening individuals on what constitutes a genuine depiction of the human body.
TINA LEUNG IN DIOR
This was shot on my iPhone 4s during the Dior show. It was part of experimentation of creating images solely on the device, from capturing the image to manipulating it.
LANDON ZOO: Portrait of the city
This project began in 2015 upon my initial arrival in London, marking the beginning of my journey in this captivating city. London was both unfamiliar and yet strangely comforting to me at first. As I gradually acclimated to my new surroundings, I embarked on exploring every nook and cranny of this bustling metropolis. Coming from the fast-paced and vibrant cityscape of Hong Kong, London provided a serene change of pace that soothed both my eyes and my spirit. Every street turned a new page of history, offering a glimpse into the myriad stories that reside within its walls. London’s charm lies in its ability to allow things to unfold at their own pace, in stark contrast to the rapid rhythm of Hong Kong. The fashion scene in London never ceased to inspire me, with its fusion of timeless classics and modern trends. It's heartwarming to witness individuals expressing their unique identities through fashion, a true reflection of the city's ethos. London's allure truly lies in its celebration of individuality and the seamless blend of tradition and innovation.
SILENT NIGHT
This particular photo series captures the essence of my initial experience of spending Christmas in London back in 2015. Being alone at that time, I harbored an intense curiosity about how London would present itself at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Day. Armed with my camera, tripod, and a flask of hot tea, I embarked on a solitary journey to document the deserted streets of London. As anticipated, the streets were eerily quiet, providing me with the ideal opportunity to immortalize the serene and uncharacteristically empty ambiance of the city. The only element that could have enhanced the festive atmosphere depicted in the images was a blanket of snow, truly encapsulating the Christmas spirit.
HONG KONG: THE CONCRETE JUNGLE

For someone used to experiencing the bustling city streets and sights from ground level, this aerial view feels like a special privilege—one that etches a lasting memory in one's heart and mind.
